Hi there!
How are you? We’ve not been up to too much unless you call getting chased up the road by a persistent deer fly that wouldn’t get the hint, an exciting activity. The tractor driver in the adjoining field probably thought it was a hoot! 😂
I’ve been focussing on writing and also on trying to read more variety in general. I realised I always read the same rubbish and looked at the same X/Twitter feeds whenever I had 5 minutes to myself in between bouts of refereeing my mini-fighting knights/Power Rangers and entertaining a baby who’s just learned to clap and wants to show me constantly.
So what do I see when I just generally scan the news in the last week before it got completely obliterated by the horrid Russell Brand news?
Aliens!
Part of me wants to scoff, but I can't help myself, I love all that mad stuff. The same goes for those silly paranormal ghost-hunting videos you see all over YouTube. 👻
Last week there was an official unveiling of some mummified aliens, thought to be around 1,000 years old at Mexico’s Congress. Experts around the world also scoffed and questioned the authenticity of such intergalactic claims.
But Mexican scientists have used a raft of tests, including radiocarbon dating, collection of DNA evidence, and X-rays, which have apparently shown ‘eggs’ inside one of the dusty little Martians. Further tests reveal that these specimens were single, whole skeletons and not hoaxes made up of animal and human parts.
Hmmmm! Considering a previous Mexican alien discovery turned out to be the skeleton of a child, I’m not convinced. But you never know, eh?
Why would aliens look so human? Would we even recognize alien beings as ‘life’ by the classic ‘MRS GREN’ standards? Would they have DNA? So many questions. What do you think?
This also came in the same week that NASA released a highly-anticipated UFO report, which basically said there is no proof they exist, but also no proof that they don’t exist. 😂👽
What I’ve been loving
Danegeld Historic Jewellery
I’ve been following this company on Facebook for several years after I saw their replica of the Alfred Jewel.
They handcraft accurate replicas of historic jewellery pieces and have had their work featured on film and TV. They specialize in Viking, Saxon, and medieval styles and you can find their work here.
Roald Dahl
It was recently Roald Dahl’s birthday, which I wrote a tweet about the other day. The internet gods decided I needed to see more Dahl-related stuff and I saw an advert for these beautiful Folio Society editions of his books.
They come in sets of three and I can’t decide between the set that has Matilda or the set that features George’s Marvellous Medicine.
Roman finds
A 2,000-year-old Roman statue of Triton has been dug up near the A2 in Kent.
I love the fact that after all this time, all the digging up of the land, and the destruction of ancient woodlands in the last century, there are still things to find.
