Hi there!
As you may have or have not noticed I’ve been away for a fair few months. I’ve been a bit busy, but for the best reason: I had a baby! 🥰
The last of the Revell lineup was born in January and I have just been soaking up my lovely newborn girly and her two lovely brothers.
But now I am back and changes are happening.
Productivity
I’ve always been a massive procrastinator and a wing-it-and-hope kind of gal. This has worked most of my life, but with each addition to our family, I find that I can no longer do that.
I’ve basically found that in our lovely chaos, I’ve been putting things off and only managing to squeeze in the meat and potatoes writing (gals gotta eat!) and not leaving time for the writing I live for: history, murder, and mystery!
So for those reasons, I’ve gone down the productivity rabbit hole and have come up with a way of doing things that works for me.
As I get back to writing I’ll be sharing these tricks and routines here and over on Medium from time to time. Hopefully, you’ll find a useful nugget nestled in there somewhere.
Rebranding
As I’ve written and read over the years I find my tastes evolving and want my new stuff to represent this change.
So I’ve decided to not pen myself in with the History Edit moniker and go for something that allows for more creativity and variety in my offerings.
But my writing voice will always remain the same and I hope you’ll love the new content.
A quick read for you
Here’s one of my pieces from Medium. Enjoy!
What I’ve been loving
Podcasts & YouTube
One of my absolute favourite YouTube channels is MrBallen. This guy delivers tales of the mysterious or weird in a simple but effective storytelling format.
He has in recent months turned it into a popular podcast and I can’t get enough. I can get my MrBallen fix on the go!
Find it on whatever platform you like to listen to your podcasts.
Below is my favourite episode of all time. It’s the Bells Canyon one!
Travel
We recently went to Carcassonne for a mini getaway with the children. The Cité de Carcassonne is a fortified citadel dating back to the Gallo-Roman period.
We originally went there on our honeymoon and stayed at the Hôtel de la Cité in the citadel. However this time with three mini knights in tow we opted for an Airbnb on the historic Rue Trivalle with views of the citadel instead.
We spent our time meandering around its ancient streets and absorbing the history before heading off for the jousting show that takes place in the citadel’s walls. It was so good the kids made us go twice!
At the end of our visit, we left with tired, happy children and a car stuffed full of foam swords, knights helmets, and mini wooden shields.
